Chikmaglur trip

In Jan 2022, we were finally able to visit Chikmaglur!!!

We had seen  the place in Rocky and Mayur show. So tried to plan it in Nov. 21 in vain.

Then Aditi's college had started. Her exams were supposed to be held in first week Jan. So we had booked tickets to Udaipur. But we had to cancel the air tickets and hotel booking as Covid was on rise.

But we were getting restless as the whole world was moving and only we had remained in the house for almost two years.

So we decided on Chikmaglur, in Karnataka. We booked a homestay Foothills there from  8th to 12th Jan

but Adi's exams got postponed to 12 th Jan. We talked to the concerned person Rakshit to shift our stay from 14th to 17th. Again her exams got postponed and were to be held from 18th Jan!!!!!!!!!

What to do now ????? We had paid advance also. So again hesitatingly we told Rakshit to prepone the booking. It was for weekend . but our school vacations were to begin on 8th and we had to leave on 7th!!!!

We were so so upset and wanted to reschedule our trip. What next, as luck would have it, Rakshit called us and sent us Covid protocol and there was weekend curfew in Bangalore!!!!!!!! which meant that we had to stay in the homestay only and moreover we had to take permission from Karnataka police.

So we asked him if it was possible to shift the stay from 10th to 14th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally ,Yes finally we had to start on 10th.

And we did start. We could not start journey till afternoon as there were so many things to do.

We took our favourite NH44 to reach Anantpur and stayed at Hotel Alexandria. Nice hotel.

Next day by 8,we started our journey to Chikmaglur. We checked the route. First we were following the route advised by someone on Quora but when we goggled it showed a shorter route SO guess what we took the shorter route.  After passing the KIA car manufacturing plant we left NH44 and took a diversion....HA  HA !!!!!!!!! It was very scenic but it was through deep countryside. Villages that we had never imagined and after every 200 meter there were speed breakers. There was nowhere to take a stop. No toilet nor even a tea stall worth stopping. We found a petrol pump with lady staff and I asked if we could use the loo. Finally after 5 hours of continuous drive we could stop. We reached the destination by 4.45 p.m. The final stretch to reach there was kutcha, rough and steep and through a jungle . What a relief it was when google said " you have reached your destination."
